A Japanese startup, Spectee, is considering the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) technology into the operations of Philippine local government units and newsrooms to swiftly detect real-time emergencies. Spectee’s Chief Operating Officer, Satoshi Negoro, stated that their technology enables users to observe crises as they unfold, facilitating disaster response and news coverage. Leveraging on AI, Spectee monitors social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and TikTok, utilizing natural language and image analysis to pinpoint the specific locations of emergencies. Currently utilized by more than 100 government organizations and private sector entities in Japan, this technology aims to accelerate the dissemination of information related to disasters and enhance emergency response capabilities in the Philippines.

The official launch of this technology, focused on disaster prevention and crisis management, is scheduled for mid-2024.
